Chassis:
Invoiced on July 25, 1939 for 43,500 French Francs, this D8-120 was clothed by Chapron with a four-seat, three-position cabriolet body. It was finished in emerald green with a red leather interior. The earliest recorded history reveals that the car was shipped to California after the War. Here it was acquired by film studio RKO and subsequently starred in the 1951 movie An American in Paris alongside Gene Kelly. It also featured in Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye and Carmen Jones before it was sold in 1955 to Thol Simonson, who was part of the RKO production team. He would own the car until it was acquired by legendary collector Peter Mullin in 1987. He had it meticulously restored and it was then shown at numerous events and displayed in the fabulous Mullin Automotive Museum. Following Peter Mullin’s passing, it was consigned with a section of the collection to a dedicated Gooding auction.
